mm, saxophone performance – Teaching Assistant


Sheridan Mackey is currently a master’s student at the University of Illinois at Urbana- Champaign pursuing a degree in Saxophone Performance and Literature, where she serves as a graduate assistant for the Illinois Athletic Bands. Originally from Tulsa, Oklahoma, Sheridan earned her Bachelor of Music in Saxophone Performance from Oklahoma State University in 2022. While at Oklahoma State, she was a member of various ensembles including the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Frontiers New Music Ensemble, Saxophone Ensemble, and Cowboy Marching Band. As a member of the Cowboy Marching Band, she served two years as a Music and Marching Section Leader. Sheridan was also a member of the award-winning Roadmap Saxophone Quartet. In 2022, Roadmap received first prize at the NOLA Chamber Fest, in the Johnathan McCall College Division. While in Roadmap, she performed at the 44th International Navy Band Saxophone Symposium and Oklahoma State University Woodwind Honors Recital.

Prior to moving to Illinois, Sheridan spent one year pursuing a master’s degree in Saxophone Performance at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where she served as the Music Theory teaching assistant. While in this position, Sheridan coordinated the Music Theory Tutoring Center and served as a guest lecturer for Music Theory I-III. She actively performed with the UW-Milwaukee Wind Ensemble, Saxophone Ensemble, and M.150 Saxophone Quartet.

Sheridan has performed in masterclasses with the United States Air Force Band Saxophone Section, Julian Velasco, Dr. Gabriel Piqué, Dr. Jeffrey Leung, and the Seraph Brass Quintet. Her professional affiliations include the North American Saxophone Alliance and Tau Beta Sigma National Honorary Band Sorority. She has studied with Dr. Nicki Roman and Dr. Johnny Salinas.
